Captain Obnoxious Pants...

... but they call me "Nugget" for short. And sometimes, I feel like I'm just not getting quite enough attention - especially if mom is watching one of her favorite shows. Typically, I will keep bringing the same toy over and set it on her lap. Sometimes she tosses it for me and sometimes she hides it. When that stops working, I dig deep in the toy basket for the one with the loudest, most annoying squeaker... and then I squeak and squeak and squeak and squeak and squeak. And squeak and squeak and squeak and squeak... Somehow lately a lot of the squeaky toys have been disappearing. I can't find them anywhere!!

I think I'm getting a bath tomorrow night...

Well I've been at Dorian's this weekend because Mom went out of town for a few days. I have so much fun here! Dorian has a big fenced-in yard so I just play all day! There's even a fountain back there... but Mom always yells at me when I get too close. This time, no one was watching and I couldn't contain the urge... so I went for it! Splish-splash in the fountain! It was so much fun!! Then I wasn't allowed back in the house because I was green from the algae and wet and "stinky" apparently - whatever that means. So I kept playing in the fountain - all weekend. Mom is gonna be soooooo mad. I am sure I'm getting a bath tomorrow night when she picks me up. But I still can't wait to see her!

A Birthday Party, Bluegrass Style!

Yesterday afternoon, Mom packed us up in the car and we headed to Mawmaw's house in Kentucky for the weekend! I was sooo excited! I love bye-bye trips - and even more, I LOVE Mawmaw's house. I get lots of love, plus Aunt Hailey and Aunt Buttercup are there, too! Sometimes, they don't really want to play... and Buttercup shows me her grill. But I love them anyway.
On Saturday, Mom surprised me with a Frosty Paws party! Axle and Tonka came over, too! We all went out on the deck and enjoyed our yummy treats and a huge bucket of ice cubes! I wasn't sure what to make of the frozen treat at first, but Mom helped me out with it. It sure was yummy! Mawmaw bought me some great presents! I got a new bone and a rope toy and a teddy bear to snuggle with. Mom says I only get the teddy bear to go night-night with because I'm rough with my babies - whatever that means.
After the Frosty Paws, we played fetched for a little bit... and then I got in trouble for eating mulch so the party was over. I hope every birthday is this great!

Cousins

Mom and I have been house-sitting at Dorian's this week. Oliver and I couldn't understand how Daisy got to sleep in the bed every night but we were left out. So while Mom was getting ready for bed, we staked out our spots and got nice and cozy. We were too cute for her to make us move!

Sharing my backseat!

We went to Kentucky this weekend to celebrate Father's Day with Mawmaw and Pawpaw. Mom bought some trees for Pawpaw for his present. I had to share the backseat with them and I was none too pleased! I got in trouble for chewing on the leaves... apparently Mom does have eyes in the back of her head!

A day in the life...

MOM:

Groundhog Day - Every afternoon at 5:15, I open my front door to the same mess. Everyday at 5:16, I get down on my hands and knees in my neatly pressed pants or skirt and pick up aforementioned mess...

Caught, red-pawed!

Apparently I'm not supposed to take the stuffing out of my toys... But if that's the case, then why do they make it so easy?

I do what I want!

This is my first week in Mom's new apartment and it is awesome! She even lets me sleep up in the bed with her! But she says I take up too much room, so I don't know how long that will last. And in the morning when we get up, I run laps like Mario Andretti while Mom is getting ready for work. She doesn't even put me in the kitchen during the day while she's at work like I was afraid she would. I get to roam free... all day long! I think Mom doesn't know it, but I get up on the couch when she leaves for work. It is so comfy! I feel like a KING! When I hear her keys in the door, I hurry up and get down so she doesn't catch me. I could get used to this!

"This is the best day, EVER!"

MOM: As I climbed into bed last night, I chuckled at the possibility there *might* be 1-4" inches of snow on the ground by morning light. I was skeptical, yet hopeful. Afterall, Husker has yet to experience snow in his 5 months on this earth. I've yet to experience snow in the Carolinas. And let's be honest, these people will FLIP OUT at the site of a single flurry and that will undoubtedly provide us with adequate entertainment for our first day back to work after a three-day weekend. (Try driving in just rain in Charlotte - for a light sprinkle, they have their flashers on and the wipers in spaz mode. No, seriously...).
Ok, so I dreamed about snow all night - and the disappointment I might feel to not see at least a light dusting. But alas, my first glimpse out the window this morning brought great delight as my eyes focused and one-half inch of white, fluffy goodness was revealed to me. I must admit that I rushed through my morning routine to be able to spend a few extra moments taking in Husker's first winter wonderland experience.
He was less curious than I anticipated... and his first yellow snow provided quantifiable evidence as to just how bad he does have to go in the morning when I let him out. He kept his nose down as we walked, and frequently looked back at me as if to say, "What is this stuff, Mom?" He was, of course, his usual hyper self, and proceeded to pull me along the slick sidewalk - no really, my feet weren't moving; my heels were actually dragging... and in snow boots, even!
We walked up to the little park and he pranced around for a bit (and pooped, as per normal morning ritual). The wind was brutal, so I had to cut the adventure short.
Fast forward 20 minutes and I'm on my way to work. Not only am I stunned that every school in a 50 mile radius is closed for a half-inch of white death, but so are businesses. Really? Even better was the lady who called in to announce that she just woke up and "This is the BEST day ever!"
... oh boy, this is going to be a long day.
